Thames Valley Otology Symposium

Overview

The symposium has been designed to bring together otologists, ENT trainees from across the Thames Valley and nationally, and allied healthcare professionals – including audiologists, speech and language therapists, and outpatient nursing staff. It aims to foster collaboration, deliver high-quality education, and share best practice across the full breadth of the otology community.

Course structure

Over the course of the day, there will be presentations from local centres of excellence, debates on key topics in otology, and opportunities to interact with experts in the field. The programme will include a mix of didactic lectures and more informal discussions. In addition, local poster presentations will be exhibited, with prizes awarded.

Objectives

This inaugural symposium has been designed to:

Deliver high-quality, accessible otology education for trainees at all levels alongside consultant colleagues
Promote multidisciplinary learning between surgical, audiological, nursing, and speech and language therapy teams
Showcase emerging research and innovation through oral presentations and keynote lectures
Strengthen regional and national networks within the otology community

Target audience

This symposium is designed for a broad range of healthcare professionals to support interdisciplinary collaboration. It is particularly suited to audiologists, speech and language therapists, outpatient nursing staff, as well as ENT trainees and consultants. While delegates will predominantly be from the Thames Valley region, attendees and abstract submissions from across the UK are warmly welcomed.
